Cedric Robinson, Queens Guide, took a party of several hundred intrepid walkers across the treacherous sand of Morecambe Bay! The same bay in which many brave, but foolish, Chinese cockle-pickers lost their lives.

For the first time this year the weather forecast for the preceeding week and for the day in question was good, very good. In the event there was a slight haze and cloudiness which saved us from the suns searing rays of the day before!

My party comprised of Mrs Margaret Knowles, Mrs Norma Liver, Normas' sister-in-law and a friend of them both.

Well, it is my Blog!

Galloways Bus, £4.25p return, can't be bad!

You've been warned, quick sands and hidden channels.

The viaduct is closed for maintenance which means taking a bus from Kents Bank to Arnside

2 years ago I had my photograph taken with this boat, I don't think it has moved!

A familiar sight to us Bay Walkers is Cedric leading the multitude!

As Margaret disrobes, ready for the walk on the sands, the dog turns around and averts its gaze!

A lot of wet sand this year; the tide must have only just gone out!

Its hard to believe I know, but the water is very warm!

Deep water and the ambulance stands by!

Reflections in the water and Margaret and Norma head for home!

The level crossing at Kents Bank and the final picture on the walk!

Well it wouldn't be right if there wasn't another one of ME not to mention me and my intrepid walking companion Margaret.

Well, thats it again for another year! What a splendid walk it has been too!
9 miles or so of sand and sunshine, you could be on Blackpool sands its so nice!

So back to the bus and Preston, bye bye Morecambe Bay!
